Piriform's CCleaner and CCleaner Network Edition awarded US patent for unique software methodology

NEW YORK, NY, April 23, 2013 — Piriform, the leading provider of computer optimization software, announces that it has been granted patent number 8,463,758 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its file and registry cleaner technology. The patent covers all versions of CCleaner, including CCleaner Professional and CCleaner Network Edition.

CCleaner is one of the world's most widely used software tools for PC optimization, having been downloaded more than 1 billion times to date.

The patent confirms CCleaner as a unique solution, with methodology recognized by the US government. It validates the long-term work of Piriform's team, which has engineered and produced a markedly effective and popular software application. CCleaner helps the user's computer run like new by removing unnecessary files, including unused and temporary files. It clears Internet and download history, eliminating digital 'traces' that can compromise privacy and result in identity theft.

"We're very proud to be granted this new patent, which is a reflection on the entire staff," said Guy Saner, CEO at Piriform. "CCleaner's distinct product design delivers a highly-valued service, for home users and for businesses, resellers and managed service providers in the commercial marketplace. This patent corroborates the success we've experienced in the field, and acknowledges our status as an industry leader in system optimization."
