Running Defraggler

There are two steps to defragmentation: analysis of the drive, and the actual defragmentation.

Analyzing a Network, Group, or Endpoint for fragmentation

  1. In the Network Tree, right-click the Network, Group, or Endpoint, point to Defraggler, and then select Analyze system drive(s).
  2. If you are prompted to confirm, select Yes.
  3. When the analysis completes, the result is shown in the Network Health section of the right pane as the Defrag percentage.

Defragmenting a Network, Group, or Endpoint

  1. In the Network Tree, right-click the Network, Group, or Endpoint, point to Defraggler, and then select Defrag system drive(s).
  2. If you are prompted to confirm, select Yes.

Note: You can defragment without manually analyzing first, but you won't get a chance to review the files or fragmentation level before Defraggler runs.

Defragmenting specific files on an Endpoint

  1. Run the analysis above for a Group or Endpoint.
  2. In the Network Tree, select a Group or Endpoint. In the right pane, select the Defraggler tab.
  3. If you selected a Group, select an Endpoint in the Endpoint list in the right pane.
  4. Select a drive (the default is C:).
  5. Select View Files or the File list tab.
  6. You can select one or more files by using the check boxes (or select the check box next to Filename to select all files).
  7. Select the Defrag Highlighted button.
    > To make it even easier, once you reach step 4, you can simply right-click a file and then select Defrag Highlighted.

Other right-click options in the file list:

  • Defrag checked - defragments files you have selected using check boxes.
  • Check highlighted - checks boxes for files you have highlighted.
  • Uncheck highlighted - removes check boxes for files you have highlighted.
  • Highlight folder - if you have highlighted a file, you can use this option to highlight everything in a folder, parent folders, or drive.
  • Save list to text file - saves the names and details for all files on the Endpoint to a text file.
