Working with the results list

Once you click Search on the File Finder pane, CCleaner will search for duplicate files, and display its results in the Results List:

CCleaner - File Finder ResultsWorking with duplicate files in the File Finder Results List.

You can use this list to select some or all duplicate files, and delete them.

  • To select all duplicate files, right-click any file and then click Select All.
  • To deselect all selected files, right-click any file and click Deselect All.
  • To select all duplicate files of a particular file type (e.g. all .TXT files), right-click a file of that type, and then click Select All of Type.
  • To deselect all duplicate files of a particular file type that have been selected, right-click a file of that type, and then click Deselect All of Type.

When you right-click a file in the results list, you can also:

  • Set File Finder to exclude all other files in its folder or parent folders – click Exclude, and then click the folder or drive you want to exclude. This will appear as a new Exclude rule on the Exclude tab.
  • Set File Finder to restrict duplicate search to just that folder or its parent folders – click Restrict to, and then click the folder or drive you want to restrict the search to. This will appear as a new Include rule on the Include tab.
  • Select duplicates only in a folder or parent folders temporarily – click Select duplicates in, and then click the folder or drive you want File Finder to limit its selection to. This option does not create any new Include or Exclude rules.

Once you’ve selected the duplicate files you want to delete, click the Delete Selected button.

Other tasks:

  • To view a file in Windows Explorer, right-click the file, and then click Open containing folder.
  • To save the list of duplicate files in a plain .TXT file, click the Save to text file button.
  • To restore the original results list, click the Restore results button.
